How to use this guide. Each page below explains one implant option in plain language: what it is, who it suits, the step-by-step procedure, the materials and implant systems commonly used, healing timelines, risks, how it is typically approached in Turkey, and an indicative guide price band. None of it is a quote or a substitute for a clinical assessment.

What a dental implant actually is

A dental implant is a small screw-shaped post, almost always made of medical-grade titanium (or occasionally a titanium-zirconium alloy or ceramic zirconia), that is placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over several weeks the surrounding bone grows onto the roughened implant surface in a process called osseointegration, locking it in place. An abutment is then attached to the implant, and a crown, bridge or denture is fixed on top. The result is a stable, standalone replacement that does not rely on grinding down neighbouring teeth the way a conventional bridge does.

Implants are used to replace anything from a single missing tooth to a whole arch. The right approach depends on how many teeth are missing, how much and what quality of jawbone you have, your general health, and your budget. The pages in this cluster walk through each scenario in detail.

Choose the page that fits your situation

Single tooth implant

Replacing one missing tooth without touching the neighbours β€” the most common and predictable implant treatment.

Multiple teeth implants

Replacing several missing teeth with individual implants or an implant-supported bridge.

All-on-4

A full fixed arch of teeth supported by four implants, often for people who have lost most or all of their teeth.

All-on-6 & All-on-8

Full-arch restorations using six or eight implants for extra support in suitable bone.

Zygomatic implants

Long implants anchored in the cheekbone for people with severe upper-jaw bone loss who were told they cannot have standard implants.

Pterygoid & nasal implants

Advanced anchorage options that avoid sinus grafting in the back of the upper jaw.

Subperiosteal implants

A custom framework that rests on the bone rather than inside it β€” a niche option for extreme bone loss.

Titanium bar & multi-unit abutments

The connecting hardware behind full-arch and bar-retained overdenture work.

Digital impressions & scanning

How intraoral scanners and CBCT drive a modern, guided implant workflow.

Immediate & same-day implants

Placing an implant and a temporary tooth in one visit β€” when it works and when it does not.

Bridge vs overdenture

Fixed implant bridge or a removable implant-retained denture β€” how to weigh the trade-offs.

Bone grafting & sinus lift

Rebuilding bone so an implant has something solid to anchor into.

How implant treatment usually runs

Why many people consider Turkey

Turkey has a large, competitive private dental sector concentrated in Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir, with many clinics oriented towards international patients. Lower operating costs mean guide prices are often a fraction of those in the UK, Ireland, Germany or North America, which is why implants are one of the most searched-for treatments. Cost is only one factor β€” the clinician's experience, the implant system used, sterilisation standards and what happens if something goes wrong matter at least as much. Use this guide to understand the treatment first, then read our how to choose a clinic checklist and the criteria-based clinic comparison before contacting anyone.

Indicative guide prices at a glance

Full detail sits on each page and on the dedicated implant cost page. As orientation only, single restored implants in Turkey are commonly quoted from roughly Β£500, and full-arch fixed solutions from a few thousand pounds per arch. Every figure is indicative and must be confirmed with a written, itemised quote after assessment.

Dental implant treatment carries clinical risks and outcomes vary between individuals. Consult a qualified dentist and verify a clinic's registration and accreditation directly before deciding.
